The warm sea breeze, the evocative scent of Aleppo pines and the crystal clear blue Côte d'Azur skies, plus the prized sense of privacy and discretion are some of the many reasons people choose a Cap d’Antibes villa rental. Cap d’Antibes has the essential qualities of being a quiet escape and also benefits from a superb location. Situated approximately equidistant between the thriving coastal hubs of Cannes and Nice and neighbouring the town of Antibes, famed for its old town, dynamic market and much loved link to Picasso, visitors are always within reaching distance of a vibrant bar and cafe culture. You’ll also be able to dine at some of the most exceptional restaurants on the Côte d'Azur that have been frequented by the likes of Hemmingway and Elizabeth Taylor, find out more in our blog article.
It’s hard to talk about Cap d’Antibes without mentioning the main reason for the location’s rise to fame amongst the world’s travelling jetset, the Grand Hotel du Cap. This iconic hotel was first envisaged by the founder of French Newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, Auguste De Villemessant, who built a villa on the cap to host and inspire writers of the time. In 1870 Cap d'Antibes ‘Villa Soleil’ was bought by visionary hotelier, Antoine Sella with backing from his Russian aristocrat friends, Paul de Fersen, Alexis de Plestcheyeff, and the Briton James Close. Alexis then turned the villa into the hotel we know and love today. In the summer months you can visit and enjoy the manicured gardens of the hotel. It has been the summer destination of choice for many world famous names such as the Kennedy family, F. Scott Fitzgerald (influential in the popularity of the Cap d’Antibes) and Marc Chagall, as well as Madonna, Leonardo di Caprio and Helen Mirren.
There are a range of sandy and other more rugged and wild beaches to visit on the Cap, with some only accessible by small coastal trails. With expert guidance from our dedicated Cap d’Antibes villa rental team headed by Anne-Marie Olmo who grew up on the Cap d’Antibes, you will be able to pick the perfect exact location of your property in relation to the surrounding beaches and your needs. Some prefer to stay on the east coast of the Cap d’Antibes with a closer proximity to Plage de la Salis, Plage de la Gardiole, Plage Keller and the popular Restaurant du Bacon. Others choose the west of the cap which has its own range of beautiful beaches with stunning views over the Bay of Juan le Pins and onto the distant Estoril mountains. The southern tip of the Cap is the most desirable location, known as Billionaire’s Bay which neighbours the aforementioned Grand Hotel du Cap.
A walk around the Cap d’Antibes is thoroughly recommended and takes you on winding coastal paths and around spectacular beaches. For those wanting to venture further afield, the neighbouring town of Antibes has many attractions worth visiting. The flower market is often at the top of people’s lists. Go there and buy a bunch of technicoloured flowers to admire for the duration of your Cap d’Antibes villa stay. Take an afternoon stroll through the winding streets of the old town, visit the Picasso museum and the ancient fort. You may spot some of the largest and most famous superyachts in the world which are tied up in the Port d’Antibes, they are spectacular!
