A guide to: Courchevel

Your insider guide to Courchevel for the 2018 season

Courchevel is a name recognised the world over, and for good reason. It is a glamorous resort where luxury off the slopes matches the exhilarating offering of world class skiing in the heart of the Three Valleys -  a combination that keeps even the most adventurous skiers happy.

This season, the resort is also hitting the headlines due to the exceptional snowfall. The location is a true winter wonderland, with the start of the 2018 season seeing snow levels not recorded in the area since 2005. The Three Valleys area, due to its altitude and setting, assures great skiing conditions throughout the season – just one reason it is such a strong favourite. Add in exceptional facilities, luxury boutiques, a mouth-watering collection of the world’s best restaurants plus some of the most sought-after boutique and 5 star hotels, and it is a winning combination.

What better way to experience life on and off the slopes of the world’s most glamorous resort than by renting your own piece of Alpine paradise? With a dedicated, knowledgeable and multi-lingual team working from offices at the heart of resort, Savills Courchevel can help you secure your winter property for this season.

So with the snow set and the slopes ready to explore, let our local team provide you with a few insider tips to ensure you make the most of this exceptional location…

The best for beginners:
With 23% of the famous slopes classed as green, and three ski schools, Courchevel isn’t just for the seasoned skier. Definitely sign up to lessons to get the most out of your time on the slopes.

The best skiing for the thrill-seekers:
There may be a generous portion of green slopes but the thrill-seekers don’t miss out; 32% of the pistes are classed as red, and 10% as black, so there are a lot of options for the experienced skier. The legendary Jean Blanc slope which runs from the top of La Loze to le Praz is a favourite in the office.

The best view of the resort:
Head to the top of La Saulire for an incredible 360 degree vista of the Three Valleys and views of Mont Blanc.

The best place to relax after a day skiing:
Again, Courchevel has numerous options but the luxury brand Ski Senses recently opened the first serviced spa residence in the resort, and to say it is popular is an understatement. Featuring private residences plus a rental offering, resort guests can also book into this exclusive spa and escape amidst the thermal pools, plus juice bar and relaxation zone, tried and tested by our very own team.

The best place to buy a few special reminders of your trip:
Without doubt head to La Croisette in the heart of the resort. The range of boutiques, showcasing numerous favourite brands will ensure something catches your eye.

The insider tip:
Get chatting, it’s amazing what you learn about a location and the people who live and work in Courchevel are only too happy to share their love of the location and you never know what you might learn – did you know there is an international Firework festival through February and March a ski show plus a host of exhibitions and celebrations.
