South West France

While the glossy Côte d’Azur might grab the main headlines, the south west of France has been a favourite for decades with buyers who understand the value in this gentle, rural land. The south west is characterised by medieval hilltop villages, turreted châteaux beside the wide turns of the Dordogne River, fields of sunflowers and far distant snow-capped Pyrenees.

South West France

This is a landscape that is both familiar and heart warming to generations of home buyers with villages and thriving market towns that stay alive long after the summer tourists have gone.

Property options include architecturally authentic homes, chateau and farmhouses, mills and longhouses, close to the wine estates of Bordeaux in Aquitaine or deep in the fertile countryside of the Tarn-et-Garonne.

Further south among the plum orchards and sunflower fields of Gascony, options centre on the small town of Auch from where the Pyrenees are within two hours. The south west is served by several airports including Bergerac and Bordeaux and of course a large one in the aerospace hub of Toulouse, a beautiful and cultural business and university city that is also the capital of the Midi Pyrenees and the starting point to explore numerous bastide towns.
